Members of Elephant Auto Insurance and Homesite Home Insurance have joined together in efforts to raise support and awareness for the Richmond Metropolitan Habitat for Humanity. On Wednesday, December 9th, both insurance companies came together at a Habitat for Humanity site to assist in building a new home. In addition to lending a helping hand at the build site, both companies donated a combined total of $1,500 to the Richmond Metropolitan Habitat for Humanity.
The home which both companies volunteered on will be purchased by Fredrica “Penny” Wright. Penny has dreamed for years to become a homeowner and provide her daughters with a safe, stable and affordable place to live. Through Richmond Habitat’s homeownership program, Penny will purchase a safe, healthy home and pay an affordable, zero percent interest mortgage, making the dream of homeownership a reality for her and her children.
“We’re continually looking for ways to give back to the local Richmond community,” stated Colleen Benzin, Head of Product at Elephant Auto Insurance. “It made sense for us to join with Homesite in efforts to support the Richmond Metropolitan Habitat for Humanity; it’s a great organization that provides housing for those that may otherwise not have a chance to have their own home.”
Since their founding, the Richmond Metropolitan Habitat for Humanity has built over 300 homes for deserving families, and continues to give back and support the local community. “We’re grateful to have Elephant Auto Insurance and Homesite Home Insurance as supporters of our cause,” stated Jane Helfrich, CEO of the Richmond Metropolitan Habitat for Humanity. “With the aid and contributions of both of these companies, we can continue to bring people together to build homes, communities, and hope.”
