DIY Ideas from the ReStore

Posted on by HabitatAdmin

The Richmond Habitat ReStore alleviates environmental strains on the Greater Richmond region by diverting usable construction materials away from landfills. In addition to using these supplies for home repairs and remodeling, consider using them for Do-It-Yourself projects!

Cabinetry, for example, can be added to a mudroom to hold gloves, hats, and other loose items. Decorate the inside of a drawer, hang it up on a wall, and suddenly you’ve got a wall shadow box! Old cabinetry and shelving can also be spruced up and personalized if you line them with family photographs, literature, or sheet music. Martha Stewart has some great examples of this, three of which are pictured below.
